About this Full English Breakfast

The full English is really a timing exercise: everything is simple, but it all has to be hot at the same moment. Start with the sausages, which take longest, then add the other things in order and finish with the eggs. A large frying pan, a baking tray and a saucepan are all you need.

How to prepare Full English Breakfast

  1. Heat the oven to 120C (100C fan) to keep things warm. Put a baking tray inside.

  2. Cook the sausages in a large frying pan over a medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes, turning, until browned all over and cooked through with no pink inside. Move them to the warm tray in the oven.

  3. In the sausage fat, fry the mushrooms for 4-5 minutes until golden. Add them to the tray. At the same time, place the tomato halves cut-side up in the pan or on the tray and cook for 5 minutes.

  4. Fry the bacon for 3-4 minutes each side until crisp and add it to the tray.

  5. Warm the beans gently in a small pan for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Fry the bread in the butter and bacon fat for 2 minutes each side until golden and crisp.

  7. Lastly, fry the eggs in a little butter over a medium heat for 2-3 minutes until the whites are set and the yolks are as you like them.

  8. Plate everything up at once and serve with plenty of tea and toast.

The method was written by AI from the ingredient list. Cook with your own judgement, and check that everything is cooked through and safe to eat.

Tips

  • Start with the longest-cooking item and add the quicker things one at a time; the oven keeps everything warm.
  • Sausages cook best slowly. A hot pan burns the outside and leaves the middle raw.
  • Make sure sausages and bacon are cooked right through, and cook eggs firm if serving children, older people or anyone pregnant.
